Tour Description
This tour is for the people that want to see the highlights of Rome in just one day. Our guide will meet you at the hotel if it is in the city center or a very easy-to-find location.
You will see first Ancient Rome, the cradle of western civilization. Our guide will take you inside the Colosseum, as well as the Forum, the Emperors’ Palace, the Senate House, the major temples, the political and judiciary buildings.
Our guided walk will then reach Piazza Venezia and the outstanding Vittoriano, probably the most beautiful building of Modern Rome. You will see Mussolini’s balcony and the Trajan’s Column.
Only few steps away we will see the world’s most famous fountain: the Trevi Fountain. It is a very old and well-known tradition to throw a coin to favor your return to Rome.
On the way you will stop here and there to eat some local delis: porchetta, pizza con la mortadella, pastries, gelato and much more food.
Our guide will also take you to the Pantheon, the best preserved building of Ancient Rome that includes the tomb of Raphael and the king Victor Emmanuel II.
This relaxed and pleasant walk downtown Rome now reaches Piazza Navona, Rome’ most charming square, full of street artists and fountains. Here you will learn more about the Fountain of the Four Rivers also featured in the movie Angels and Demons.
We will spend the rest of the afternoon in the Vatican with a comprehensive visit of the Sistine Chapel, the Rooms of Raphael, the Basilica of St. Peter, the Gallery of Geographic Maps and much much more including the changing of the Swiss Guards.
