Tour Description
On this 3 hours guided walking tour you will see the highlights of the Vatican City: the Sistine Chapel, the Basilica of St. Peter, the Rooms of Raphael, the Gallery of Geographic Maps and much more.
Our walking tour starts from the Vatican Museums. We do not wait in the entrance lines but we reach the gallery of Ancient Roman & Greek sculptures through privileged access.
Our English-speaking expert guide will take you to the statues of Apollo, Laocoon, the Belvedere Torso, Antinoo and other famous Ancient marbles collected in the Vatican over the last 500 years.
We will then walk through the Gallery of Tapistries that were designed in the XVI century by the School of Raphael and masterly woven in Brussels. Our visit continues in the Gallery of Geographic Maps, the world’s best collection or Renaissance maps and the Rooms of Raphael.
These rooms were the apartments of Pope Julius II and were painted by the great Italian master and his followers in the early 1500s. You will discover history and secrets of these wonderful frescoes, including the School of Athens, the Parnassus and the Battle of the Milvian Bridge.
Only few steps away we reach the Sistine Chapel and its famous artworks by Michlelangelo: the Last Judgment, the Creation of Adam, the Stories of Moses and Jesus.
A special shortcut will take us to the Basilica of St. Peter, the grandest church on earth. Our visit here includes the Tombs of Pope John Paul II & John XXIII, Bernini’s Baldacchino, the Baptistry, the Cathedra and much much more.
Our tour ends in St. Peter’s Square with a great view of the Pope’s apartments and the roof where the smoke comes out after his election. If time permits your guide will also take you to the changing of the Swiss Guards.
